There are few things I'd sit in Long Island rush hour traffic for, Weezer is definitely one of those things. While the same tour was coming to PNC Art Center, nothing really compares to seeing a show at the breathtaking Nikon Theater on Jones Beach. Surrounded by water while the sun sets, just one of those perfect summer days.

Sleigh Bells opened the show. Contrary to the ticket taker they are not a Christmas themed punk band, though that would be sick. I've have been dying to see Sleigh Bells since their Reign of Terror days. Frontperson Alexis Krauss is electric and keeps the audience begging for more. I think Sleigh Bells is the perfect addition to a tour with two legacy bands, not only do they bring out a young crowd but they keep some of the older heads on their toes.

The Pixies are next! I've been kicking myself for missing them last time they came through the Stone Pony Summer Stage. When I first went a way to college my uncle gave me a best of The Pixies CD with a note that read "every college freshman needs the pixies in their life" and boy was here right. It felt like a trip right back to my first drive out to the dorms, they played hit after hit after hit!

Closing out the show, a band that I once genuinely called "Blink 182's grandpaws" in 2009 (I was 13 and a dumbass) WEEZER. Opening the show with BUDDY FRICKIN HOLLY. I'm not even going to front, I was losing my shit in the photo pit. The entire setlist was hit after hit, sprinkled with some fan-favorite covers. The only song I was wishing to hear that they didn't play was Susanne and that's only because the Mallrats soundtrack was stuck in my car for two years.
